Additionally, R.M. Thornton follows the theory that "to manage something you need to measure it".  The same holds true for utility bills/energy costs.  When we do an energy assessment which involves placement of logging sensors, we can tell if night setback controls are being utilized, thermostat settings are accurate, occupancy schedules are being followed, lights are being turned off at night, and whether or not the building is over ventilated.  All these things are simple and inexpensive to change and improve.  We can log and plot on a time graph, motor amperages (ex: boiler burner run times), CO2 (ventilation levels), humidity, and temperature, as well as analyse thermal images.
