Thornton has been recognized by the Washington Building Congress with fourteen Individual & Team Craftsmanship and Star Awards for mechanical contracting excellence. Recent awards include:

• Washington Building Congress Craftsmanship Certificate for Central Heating System (complete with boiler) at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.
• Washington Building Congress Certificate for Chilled Water Pump Replacement in National Institutes of Health Building 49
